Food Project (Tonkotsu)

Artist Statement: For my foods project, I decided to make a dish called tonkotsu. It's a ramen dish that has a creamy and meaty broth along with wheat noodles and other toppings such as egg, green onion, nori etc. It was first created in a noodle stall called "Nankin Senryo" in 1937. The story behind the birth of tonkotsu was when a man accidentally put the fire too high and boiled the broth into a smooth and thick texture. This dish originated from Japan and is very popular on an island called Kyushu. I like tonkotsu because I enjoy eating noodles and it looks very appetizing.
